A friend of ours sent us this picture that he made. Isn’t it a hoot? I wish we were in Guatemala with Lucas now, maybe not sitting on the water in super huge size, but there in Guatemala hugging our baby! Have a great day! Look for pictures tomorrow!!
That is a big question we get these days. Well, the only answer that I have is because we know nothing new. We know that things are progressing (at what speed we are not sure) and that we ’should’ have preapproval soon (by the end of the month). The system down there is so uncertain, we could be out by April or it could take ‘much’ longer. Our prayer for travel is still May. Join us in believing for that as well. A representative from Worldwide adoption services is in Guatemala now and will see Lucas tomorrow. When I spoke with her she said that she would get us pictures by next week when she gets home. Please continue to pray for Lucas and that our case speeds through the system with no errors. Also please pray for the 10+ grants that we have applied for. We have only been turned down by 1, but not heard anything from the others. Our God is able to meet this need! (I’m reminding myself as well!) Thank you for your continued support and prayers. When I find myself down I remember that others are invested in this as well and are praying for us.

We finally got updated pictures of Lucas. Boy has he changed! Not to mention lost a lot of hair. I teared up when I saw the pictures of him smiling because I realized we missed his first smile. Check out the pictures page to see more of Lucas at 3 months. Still just a little peanut!
Just wanted to let you all know that prayer is vital and it works! Our social worker interview did happen on Tuesday and according to our facilitator went well. She says that we hope to have the report in “the next week or so”. The huge hurdle of Lucas’ birthmom seeing him and changing her mind is pretty much done (she doesn’t have to see him again). Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We love the comments on this site as well as the emails of support. It reminds us that we are not in this alone! Now we pray that the report is done quickly and correctly and that we get our preapproval from the US Embassy soon.
Please join us in prayer for our court appointment that is tomorrow 2/6 at 9:30am. At the appointment will be our attorney, facilitator (lady who runs the orphanage), the birthmom, and Lucas. All those present will have to undergo an interview by a social worker (not Lucas obviously). The social worker has to write a report on our case. Lucas’ birthmom has to relinquish her rights again (time #3 out of 4- the 4th she doesn’t actually have to do since she signed a power of attorney). This is just another step closer to bringing Lucas home. We are about half way there now. Pray that all goes well and that we get preapproval soon from the US Embassy in Guatemala. Both the preapproval and the report are needed to move to the next step, which is really the last hurdle to go in this journey. We so appreciate your prayers and comments on this site. It helps to know that others are concerned and praying for Lucas and our family!
