Bringing Lucas Home

Our Journey through Guatemalan Adoption

Update March 30, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Janet @ 7:19 am

Just wanted to let you all know that our document will get back in PGN right after Easter. The Guatemalan system closes down for Holy Week (from Saturday before Easter through Easter) and nothing will be done during that time. Everything is on track and will be submitted when offices open back up. Our case just happened to hit both major holidays in Guatemala. This error in our case will cost us an additional month in the system. Please pray there will be NO more delays and Lucas will come home soon.

Thank you for those who have been praying for my family. It has been a crazy week with my aunt’s funeral yesterday (Thursday). I’ve not worked much this week and life at the house has become messy to say the least. Hopefully we’ll get back into the swing of things in these next couple of days. Thanks for your prayers.

Please pray for our family as my aunt passed away earilier today. She had a muscle disease that took her very quickly and unexpectedly. We will miss her so, but are so glad that she is a child of the King and we’ll see her again one day. Remember our family in prayer if you will.

Lucas is 5 months old today/ 5 weeks in PGN March 26, 2007

It’s hard to believe that our little boy is 5 months old today! How big he is getting and how much we are missing as his parents! We just passed the 5 week mark in PGN. Continue to pray with us. Also for the grants that we have applied to. We will have to pay the last installment of money due when we exit PGN. We need some assistance in the financial area. Join us in prayer please! Hope you have a great day and thanks for checking on us!

Please pray for my aunt, Barbara Sawyer, she is in ICU and not doing so well. Pray for renewed strength and energy and complete healing for her body. Thanks :)

God is good and He’s still on the throne March 19, 2007

Just thought I’d tell you we know nothing! :) ha! Isn’t that great news. Oh, I’m just using a bit of humor this cold Monday morning. We are still working on ‘the document’ that seems to be taking forever to get back to Guatemala. For some reason I am just ok with it all. There have been times when I have been frustrated at what to me seemed like no progress. However, God is good and He is still on the throne. There are so many others out there that need healing and need a miracle just to survive and I am feeling very blessed for the family and health that I have. I have 4 wonderful children and a great family and today can’t think of a reason to complain. I pray that God will fill you with peace unspeakable and you will be able to be content where you are. I pray for healing for all those who so desperately need it and I pray you feel the love of God today. If you will remember to pray for Lucas when you go before God today our family would appreciate it.

Our Case is Moving… March 8, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Janet @ 8:34 am

We found out yesterday that our case is moving. We got kicked out for not having the preapproval and for my name affidavit. God is sovereign and Lucas will still be home soon. We are still standing in faith that we will be out of PGN by Easter!!! I’ll post as I know something! :)

Your prayers requested March 7, 2007

First I wanted to say thank you for standing beside us. I also want to ask for you to continue to stand with us as we are closer to bringing Lucas home. In Guatemala they take pretty big vacations around Christmas and Easter (we hit both). Since our case has been in PGN since February 16 I’m praying that by Easter we are out of PGN. This way our case does not have to be slowed down by the vacations and can proceed with the final US Embassy approval and they don’t take the holiday breaks like the Guatemalans do. Join us in believing that our case will exit PGN by the beginning of April! I know that the God we serve is more than able to do this and He allows us to come to His throne and make requests. Please request this on our behalf. We also know that He hears your prayers and our adoption is at His heart. Our agency rep did give us some encouraging news the other day. She said that our case is going more quickly than any other that her agency is doing! What a mighty God we serve! To Him be the GLORY for this and for our son. Please stand with us.

Also, pray that the Gower family did get authorization for their DNA yesterday (Tuesday). They have had a bit of a hang up with this step. Ask the Father for them to speed through the rest of their adoption.

Tim and I love that you are keeping up with us and pray that God blesses you richly!

PREAPPROVAL!! March 5, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Janet @ 8:29 am

I just got the email from the US Embassy stating that we have preapproval to adopt Lucas! This is another milestone in our case! I was so thrilled that I teared up and most of you know I am not the crying type. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Sidebar: We finally got around to painting his room and getting things ready for him. I know that is pretty late, but with our schedule we are doing the best we can!! :)

We love you guys!

PGN- and ramblings March 2, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Janet @ 9:04 pm

I’ve been shopping all day trying to figure out what we are going to do with Kennedy and Lucas and their furniture. When I got back home we had an email from our agency saying that we had been in PGN (that last hurdle) since February 16th!!! That was 2 weeks ago! We had no idea, but are so grateful for progress. We hope to hear that we have preapproval by early next week. Please pray that we do indeed get preapproval and that we speed through PGN. I can’t wait to hold that sweet baby! We all seem to have areas that we have difficulty in and our ‘walk of faith’ seems to be the finances for the adoption. Join us in prayer about the grants that we have applied for and for God to give us peace too. You guys have been wonderful walking along with us! Thanks!

My Grateful Journal today includes:
*Being in PGN for 2 weeks
*having wonderful prayer partners

Update and NEW PICTURES! March 2, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Janet @ 8:55 am

Oh I can’t believe how Lucas has grown! He is such a sweet little boy and appears to be happy. Our agency rep got back in town and told us that he is happy and is being taken care of very well. She said he smiled the whole time she was holding him. She also gave us the GREAT news that we are in PGN (which is the last big hurdle to get through). We still don’t have preapproval, but the attorney put us in PGN without it knowing that we would get kicked out once for not having it. (he simply submits it when kicked out and we are back in PGN for our case to be reviewed) I am not sure when we got out of Family Court (the interview process) but at this point I don’t much care! We are praising God for this step and for new pictures of our son! I can’t wait to hold that sweet little one. Our prayer is still May and it could easily happen! Check out the new pictures of our little boy! Of course we think he’s a doll. His hair hasn’t calmed down any, but still a doll! Continue to press in and pray for him and your lost family members!
