Thanks so much for all the well wishes and calls. There have been a few unexpected meals that are GREATLY appreciated too. We got home about 1:30 on Thursday morning. What a night. As I said before our Embassy appointment went well, but we had a scare and didn’t get our VISA until Wednesday right before we left. (which is unusual, we should have gotten it on Tuesday afternoon). God worked it all out and all the trials we had to go through to get our son home are well worth it. Even now I look back and think it wasn’t that bad. Lucas’ first day at home he turned 9 months old. What a sweet baby he is. Kennedy is not jealous of Lucas, but of everyone else getting to hold him. She wants to all the time. She thinks she should be able to feed him, rock him, and do all the mommy things. The big girls continue to be great with him as they were in Guatemala. They loved flying and thought the country was great even though they were ready to come home to some sweet tea! We all missed that, of all things! It was a great trip, but I am so glad that this part of our journey is complete. We are still praying for quite a few of our friends that are still in the process. We were able to spend lots of time with our 1 year old cousin that is being adopted from down there. That was a sweet blessing. The family that is taking care of her is GREAT and so hospitable! We felt so at home with them and in their home. We are now trying to figure out what normal feels like with a baby and 4 kids. Thankfully Tim doesn’t go back to work until Monday and his hours have shifted so that he doesn’t have to go to work so early and will be able to help me in the mornings for the first time since we have had children. This will be so helpful when I go back to work in a few weeks. We have been reflecting and amazed at how far God has brought us in this 9 month journey. He is worthy of all our praise. Thanks for checking on us and praying with us. We appreciate it and you! I’ll post pictures again when I go out and get more batteries for my camera!
We´re here and Lucas is ours! July 23, 2007
Just wanted to let you all know that we just finished our Embassy appointment and Lucas is officially our son! What a great day. We are all having a good time. We´ve gone to the zoo/amusement park and to the children´s museum and had dinner with friends. We have a big day planned for tomorrow going to some of the local spots to sightsee. Below are a few pictures from our trip so far. We´ll be home late Wednesday night. Thanks for following along with our journey. We love you all.
We’re going to get Lucas on Friday!! (7/20) July 15, 2007
We just got word that we will be allowed to go to Guatemala on Friday to pick up Lucas! Our actual appointment date is on Monday, July 23 at 9:00am. We will leave early Friday morning and get back the following Wednesday very late. This past week was really rough on us, but we finally got the call! We are so excited and thrilled to be bringing him home and are really thankful for God allowing us to have a son. We give God all the glory! Thanks for praying right along with us. If I don’t post any more this week, I’ll definately put some pictures on here while we are in Guatemala.
No news is not good news, sorry July 9, 2007
I know that it would appear that I have not updated you all and I am witholding information. I wish that was the case. Last Monday we ’should’ have heard when our travel date is, but we found out that our documents were not submitted to the embassy until that day. We’ve been told that we will hear today (Monday) or tomorrow when we will be allowed to go and get him. We are at wits end. This last bit has been very difficult for us. We hope and pray that we’ll find out something soon as it will still be about a week from when we hear before we can actually go and get him. I feel the clock ticking on when school will start for me and when he will have to go to daycare. (school starts for me on the 14th of August- I’ll be at Dorman Freshman Campus). Where at one time I thought I’d have the entire summer with Lucas at best I’ll have 3 weeks. Please continue to pray with us and for us. We need it more now than ever. Thanks for checking on us and believing with us.
